Project Management

We run the technology side of a whole build: new construction, office moves, network reworks, and standing up a new operation from nothing. Job sites do not stay put, so we run builds in Lafayette, throughout Acadiana, and at addresses across Louisiana.

Around $8.5 million in managed projects, from enterprise software to offshore platforms in the Gulf.

Methodology

Running a build in Lafayette and across Louisiana

You cannot build a project without pieces, so we identify the pieces and then build the swimlanes to make the undertaking more digestible.

  1. Footprint the whole thing

A full lay of the land at the very beginning, as complete as we can get it.

  2. Identify every piece

Nothing gets built from a vague scope.

  3. Lay out the swimlanes

The work broken into lanes, so an overwhelming project becomes a series of manageable stages.

  4. Bring in the trades we do not do

Electrical, cabling, other specialties. Bid out to the right specialist and managed by us.

  5. Execute in stages

One team owning the outcome from the first day to the last.

The argument

You cannot build a project without pieces, so we start by finding all of them.

Footprinting means getting a full lay of the land at the very beginning of a major undertaking, as complete as we can get it. Identify every component, then build the swimlanes that make the whole thing digestible.

It is the same discipline that runs through everything else we do. Measure first, measure again afterwards. On a build the only thing that changes is the scale.

Footprinted first

A large project becomes a series of small ones.

  • Every component is identified before anything gets ordered.

  • The work sits in swimlanes, so progress in one place cannot hide a stall in another.

  • One entity owns the outcome, which means one number to call.

  • Where a specialty trade is needed, the right specialist is bid in and managed.

Improvised

The coordination quietly becomes your job.

  • Scope gets discovered while the work is already underway.

  • Every vendor answers only for their own piece of it.

  • The gaps between trades belong to nobody until they become a delay.

  • The person coordinating it is the owner, who already has another job.

The organising happens before a single wire is run, or it happens later at a much worse price.

Why people call

New construction, an office move, a network rework, or standing up a new operation from nothing. Those are the four moments this comes up, and all four are easier to get right at the beginning than to correct halfway through.

Do it right from the start

The cheapest security work is the work built in on day one.

Standing up a new structure is the one moment where nothing has to be retrofitted. Cabling, wireless coverage, monitoring and access all get designed in rather than bolted on afterwards. A new building in Lafayette and an office move somewhere else in Acadiana follow the same order of operations.

What you receive

Findings you can act on, and help acting on them.

We own the entire project as the single point of accountability, including the parts we do not perform ourselves. That holds on a Lafayette job site and on one at the far end of the state.

  • One point of accountability One number to call. You are not coordinating a dozen vendors yourself.
  • Honest scoping We are not greedy, and we will not take on things we do not have the skills to handle.
  • The specialists, managed Where a trade is needed we bring in the right one and run them.
  • Standard rates, not a padded bid Most project work is billed at our regular rate, so you pay for the work rather than a marked up fixed bid. Larger or higher risk industrial jobs may be quoted as a project price.

Where a trade is outside what we do, we bid it out to the right specialist and manage them. We are not greedy, and we will not take on things we do not have the skills to handle.

What it costs

Most project work is billed at our standard rate, time and materials.

That is deliberate and it is worth saying plainly, because the assumption usually runs the other way. A large fixed bid carries a margin for everything that might go wrong, and you pay that margin whether or not anything does.

On time and materials you pay for the hours that actually happen. We would rather earn it that way.

The exception is industrial work with a danger factor, where the risk justifies a project price and we will quote one.

Field findings

Three projects, and they are deliberately unalike

Roughly $8.5 million in projects, across enterprise software, multi-site residential, and heavy industrial.

The headline

A wireless deployment in the Gulf of Mexico, around $4.5M

Offshore platformsLong distance wirelessIndustrial
What is happening

Long distance internet links attached to offshore platforms, feeding connectivity out to smaller rigs.

Heavy industrial
Why it matters

An environment where nothing can be improvised and a return trip is not a small thing. It is the proof behind the industrial work we want more of.

Nine months

A Sage accounting suite replacement, around $2.5M

Enterprise softwareCustom developmentProduction process
What is happening

Managed over nine months, alongside a custom software suite built for the company's entire production process.

Enterprise software
Why it matters

Software programme management rather than a network job, which is a different discipline and a useful demonstration of range.

Four months

A four building apartment complex WiFi deployment, around $1.5M

Multi-site residentialWireless
What is happening

Managed over four months.

Multi-site residential
Why it matters

Four buildings, one deployment. Multi site residential behaves nothing like a single office, and coordinating it is most of the work.

Anonymized to industry, scale and duration. No client names.

Before the first wire

Tell us what you are building and we will footprint it.

The earlier the conversation happens, the cheaper the project gets. There is no charge for scoping it out with you.

Coverage

Where this work happens

Lafayette is home base and Acadiana is the everyday radius. For this work we drive most of Louisiana, so Baton Rouge and Lake Charles are ordinary trips rather than exceptions. Anything past that gets sorted out on the phone before anybody leaves.

Each city page says what this work looks like in that town.

Questions

What people ask before they book one.

What a project client asks before hiring anybody.

Have you handled a project my size?

We have managed a $2.5M enterprise software rollout, a $1.5M multi-building WiFi deployment, and a $4.5M offshore wireless project on Gulf of Mexico platforms. Around $8.5M in total.

Can you run the whole thing, or only the IT part?

The whole thing. We are the single point of accountability and we manage every piece, including the specialists we bring in.

What if part of it is outside your wheelhouse?

We bid it out to the right specialist and manage them. We are not greedy, and we will not take on things we do not have the skills to handle.

How do you keep a big project from spiraling?

We footprint the whole thing up front, identify every piece, and break it into swimlanes so a huge undertaking becomes a series of manageable stages.

How is it billed?

Most project work is at our standard rate, time and materials. For larger or higher risk industrial jobs we may quote a project price instead.

We are building in Opelousas. Can you run it from Lafayette?

Yes. We manage builds in Lafayette, up through Opelousas and St. Landry Parish, and at job sites anywhere in the state. Most of the coordination happens by phone and email, and somebody is on site when the schedule needs it.

No contract required

Tell us what you are building.

Scoped and quoted before it starts, billed hourly, and the work is yours when it is done. No retainer, no monthly fee, no managed services agreement.

We are based in Lafayette and serve all of Acadiana, and the statewide coverage is real: we drive most of Louisiana for on-site work.
